A friend dropped that saying on me years ago. And, so I write.

My first article—the one that made me “a writer”—was a blind submission to Yoga Journal. They published it, and I got paid. I was hooked from the first hit. Everything I’ve done since then in some way comes back to writing. What is the story? Who is the audience? What is your voice? And, so on.

No matter what you’re working on—straight-up journalism to product development—sooner or later it’s going to come back to story.
